Democracy is under increasing threat globally. With Russia’s illegal war in Ukraine, the battle between democracies and autocracies is heightened. Technology is at the forefront of this competition with Russian disinformation and hybrid warfare. In that light, we aim to amplify our efforts of innovating and then scaling tech solutions to democracies’ problems, such as elections at risk, illicit surveillance, corruption, and accountability in Moldova and abroad. The Democracy Tech Hackathon was a two-day hacking marathon that took place on the sidelines of the Moldova DemTech Conference, to innovate new solutions that will advance tech for democracy. We invited out-of-the-box thinkers with a background in technology, business, startups, policy, and democracy . The Democracy Tech Hackathon is part of our roadmap for the 2023 Democracy Tech Entrepreneur Fellowship.
