How inauthentic Facebook accounts targeted detained Moroccan journalists

In May 2022, Meta removed a network of 43 accounts engaged in coordinated inauthentic behavior, and the spread of disinformation that appears to be linked to a prior Morocco-based campaign that was de-platformed in 2021. The network actively targeted prominent journalists, human rights defenders, and vocal critics of the state, and actively sought to dismiss or distort evidence of the government’s use of NSO Pegasus spyware on journalists.
