On December 6, 2022, The National Democratic Institute (NDI) bestowed the inaugural Madeleine K. Albright Democracy Award to President Maia Sandu of Moldova, and Prime Minister Ingrida Simonyte of Lithuania. The award recognizes the legacy of NDI’s former board chair. This was preceded by a discussion with Nobel Prize winning journalist Maria Ressa.
