This interactive dialogue brings together civil society, civil servants, technologists, and journalists to explore when tech and data make a real difference for transparency, and when other (non-tech) approaches are better suited. Not every governance challenge can, or should, be solved with technology, but for some challenges, tech can make a huge impact. Through guided discussion and a collaborative systems-mapping exercise, participants will analyze context-specific problem statements, distinguishing between tech and non-tech solutions. Together, we’ll work toward a more nuanced, context-driven approach to using technology for open government, avoiding ‘technosolutionism’ and focusing on impact.
