Call for Applications: Presidential Precinct’s Global Democracy Fellowship

Time is running out to apply for an exceptional opportunity to deepen your impact on democracy worldwide, the 2026 Global Democracy Fellowship from our coalition partner Presidential Precinct. This fully funded, six-week immersive Fellowship runs from June 13 to July 23, 2026, and is designed for rising and established leaders committed to strengthening democracy in their communities and countries. Building on the legacy of the Mandela Washington Fellowship and expanded to include participants from around the world, the program combines academic and practical learning with deep engagement in the history and practice of democratic leadership.

Fellows will take part in programming at the University of Virginia and the College of William & Mary, and engage with landmark institutions including James Madison’s Montpelier, Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello, James Monroe’s Highland, the Center for the Constitution, and Colonial Williamsburg. All major costs are covered, including airfare, lodging, and meals.

The Fellowship is open to social movement leaders, civil society leaders, government officials, parliamentarians, journalists, creatives, and democracy and human rights defenders with at least three years of experience in democracy-building and proficiency in English.

Applications are due by February 9, 2026, at 11:59 PM EST. To learn more and the apply.
