AIDL is an independent international non-governmental organization working to protect, promote and defend human rights and public freedoms, advance justice and the rule of law, strengthen democracy, expand civic space, empower public participation, and support people and communities affected by violations, conflicts and crises. The organization adopts an institutional approach based on advocacy, monitoring, partnership building, engagement with international mechanisms, and the development of impactful initiatives in the fields of civilian protection, justice, governance, democracy and human rights. AIDL connects rights, freedoms, democracy and accountability as interdependent pillars for building more just, inclusive and resilient societies.
