The 2025 OGP Africa and Middle East Regional Meeting, hosted by our Coalition Partner Open Government Partnership, is set to start tomorrow, taking place from March 25–27, 2025, in Nairobi, Kenya, bringing together government officials, civil society leaders, private sector representatives, and policymakers to explore the theme “Rebuilding Trust through Open Government.” This regional gathering will serve as a vital platform for advancing transparency, accountability, and citizen participation in governance across Africa and the Middle East.
Discussions will focus on harnessing digital governance to strengthen democracy, promoting financial integrity through tax transparency and participatory budgeting, and ensuring access to justice by enhancing transparency in public institutions. The agenda will also address the role of open government in tackling corruption, fostering inclusive decision-making, and leveraging technology to protect fundamental freedoms. Through high-level panels, interactive workshops, and networking opportunities, participants will collaborate on innovative strategies to rebuild trust between governments and citizens, ensuring that open government principles remain at the heart of policymaking.
As governments and civil society navigate increasingly complex challenges, the OGP Africa and Middle East Regional Meeting offers a critical opportunity to reaffirm commitments to open governance and chart a course toward more responsive, inclusive, and accountable leadership.
