On 9 November 2022, we presented the Manifesto Democracy under Pressure at Diligentia in The Hague. Sixteen spearheads to defend democracy, improve it and connect all groups and people who give democracy high priority at home and abroad. In March 2023, we organised several smaller meetings, on various topics, in different cities.
On Tuesday 19 March, the state of democracy is once again the focus of global attention. In the Netherlands, after the Lower House elections and before the European elections, we asked the question: what is the state of democracy in our country and in Europe? What does the rise of populism here and in the EU mean for defending and strengthening democracy?
