Solidarity in Crisis: The Fight to Reclaim Accountability and Justice (18:00–19:30)

This session aims to raise awareness on the global human rights crisis, while fostering solidarity among
actors committed to defending human dignity and international law. It will provide a platform for a highlevel exchange on:

  • The implications of ongoing double standards in the enforcement of international human rights
  • and humanitarian law.
  • The role of economic factors including extreme inequality in eroding trust in international law
  • The normalisation of authoritarian practices, including in democratically elected governments.
  • The consequences of the growing financial disinvestment in human rights, and its impact on
  • institutions like the UN and major NGOs.
  • The urgency of restoring global solidarity and revitalising multilateral cooperation in defence of
  • human rights.

The session will be a roundtable discussion that will start with initial remarks by the speakers. This will
be followed by an open discussion with the other participants. The facilitator will wrap up the session
with some final observations and a summary of the main points discussed.
