Religion and Democracy

The Role of the Church in Zambian Democracy

20 March / 10:00 - 12:00 CET / 18:00 - 20:00 KST

Hybrid event

The church plays a very important role in mobilising, dissemination and sensitisation of democracy values and beliefs in the nation. Politicians have realised that its important to involve the church in democracy activities. The Pastors or religious leaders are well respected in communities and play a very significant role in entrenching the tenets of democracy in the country and communities at large. Its therefore, in this vein that this discussion will be held to enhance the participation of the church in democracy activities in various countries especially in Africa. The discussion brought out pros and cons of the church involvement in democracy activities and also provided some solutions to existing challenges that the church is facing in this regard.
