The work of Demo Finland and its partners in Zambia has enhanced the political participation of persons with disabilities. Zambia’s legal framework supports people with disabilities, but there’s a gap between policy and practice, according to Bruce Chooma of Disability Rights Watch. To address this, Demo Finland, DRW, and Zambia National Women’s Lobby launched a project in 2020. Its goal is to enhance political participation for people with disabilities, aiming to strengthen democracy by ensuring marginalized groups, including women, youth, and persons with disabilities, can ascend to political leadership positions.
