Monique Mutumwinka lives in Portland and is originally from Rwanda. Before coming to the United States, she practiced dentistry for 25 years in Congo and Rwanda and was a lecturer for 10 years. She was granted asylum in the U.S. in 2011 and now earns her living as a personal support specialist, while volunteering as a dental assistant at the Root Cellar clinic.
