This is a compilation of presentations from the “Democracy in the Present Moment”, a series of videoconferences held in 2020, as an initiative of the Institute for Democratic Studies of the Electoral Tribunal of the Republic of Panama, in collaboration with the Konrad Adenauer Siftüng (KAS) and International IDEA. This books includes the interventions of the majority of the participants in the form of chapters. Topics include: the diversity of electoral systems, democratic culture, popular consultations, electoral parity, the impact of new information and communication technologies in contemporary democracies, among others.
