Corruption, excessive force, profiling, deliberate evidence tampering, and discrimination can all erode public trust in law enforcement and, by extension, peace and security. The Carter Center has been supporting national police forces in Costa Rica and Liberia to better reflect and serve their constituencies through improved transparency, accountability, and gender equality since 2017 and is looking to expand this work internationally, as well as domestically in Metro Atlanta. During this brownbag speaker series event, you will hear from Carter Center project leads based in core countries and experts in policing, communities, and mental health about why this work is important, where and what work is being done in this space, and opportunities for expansion.
