Madi the Cursed is a short film by Ramata MAIGA, produced as part of Accountability Lab Mali’s Accountability Film School programme for an inclusive, participatory transition and transparent elections in collaboration with the National Endowment for Democracy (NED). Madi, a competent and honest executive, has just been appointed national director of transport. He is quickly caught between his vow of probity and the prevailing conformity of mismanagement in the administration. In a gangrenous department, his desire to bring about change comes up against the wall of resistance of well-established practices. In the end, everyone sees him as the cursed one who refuses to take advantage of an opportunity.
