Media and Digital Literacy Training in Kakata, Margibi County, Liberia 

Campaigners Against Misinformation and Disinformation in Liberia (CAMDL), a local nonprofit, has trained over forty (40) Civil Society Organization members, including people with disabilities, at the Kakata Intellectual Forum in Kakata, Margibi County, at the weekend. False information undermines democracy,  

peace, development and governance in Liberia. The Media and Digital Literacy Training equipped Civil Society Organization members in Margibi County with skills in using digital tools to verify online information and detect and counter false Artificial Intelligence content. This training has improved Civil society organization members’ and people with disabilities’ resilience to false information in Liberia. Moreover, the training has contributed to maintaining the integrity of the information landscape in Liberia.According to CAMDL Executive Director, Taweh Johnson, the organization has extended its impact to Margibi County because several trainings and initiatives have been done in Montserrado and Bomi Counties, keeping in mind that citizens in other parts of Liberia need the skills and knowledge to counter false information in Liberia. In addition, Taweh Johnson has also called on international partners to kindly provide logistical support to the organization to reach other counties in Liberia.
