Onlcc Haiti Press Release

Our Coalition Partner, L’Organisation nationale de lutte contre la corruption et la criminalité (ONLCC) is taking a firmer stance against the Central Financial Intelligence Unit (UCREF). In a press release issued this month, the organization denounces what it describes as the institution’s “worrying silence” regarding suspected money laundering in Haiti and calls on its Director General to fully assume his responsibilities.

The ONLCC states that it can no longer remain silent in the face of what it views as a lack of leadership and accountability within the UCREF. According to the organization, numerous public allegations have been made against individuals and institutions suspected of using their influence to launder money. Yet, the UCREF has reportedly published no reports nor announced any investigations that could lead to legal proceedings.

For the ONLCC, this lack of communication fuels questions regarding the effectiveness of the agency tasked with combating money laundering. For additional details, please visit their website here.
