Asuntos del Sur is a research and action center (think-do tank) that develops and implements improvements in the democratic fabric through research, analysis, and the production of content on public policy, social development, democracy, and human rights. Currently, the initiatives reach 28 countries in the Global South. In recent years, they have deepened their work on democratic defense and renewal, developing tools to identify risks of democratic erosion, understand authoritarian dynamics, and highlight practices of resilience. Through initiatives such as the Markers and the production of narratives, they seek to translate these processes into accessible inputs for action. They promote collaborative governance processes, working with communities, institutions, and governments to co-create more open, participatory, and effective public policies. In addition, through their Political Innovation Academy, they develop training programs for diverse actors —including civil society, the public sector, and leadership at different levels— strengthening capacities and fostering commitment to democratic values. Finally, they build and engage in regional and global networks to promote shared agendas, foster plural dialogue, and develop collective responses to current challenges.
