The Fundació Irla aims to:

  • Promote knowledge of the political, economic, social and cultural thought and work of those people who, like president Josep Irla’s generation, have been inspired by the values of freedom, democracy, social justice and national sovereignty.
  • Promote, at an international level, the defense of freedom, democracy, social justice and the self-determination of peoples, as well as knowledge of Catalonia and the Catalan-speaking territories.
  • Stimulate the study of the political, economic, social and cultural reality of Catalonia, the Catalan-speaking territories and the European Union, as well as the development of their thought.
  • Promote research and knowledge on the history of Catalonia and the Catalan-speaking territories’ national progressive spectrum.
  • Preserve significant documents produced by the Republican Left of Catalonia throughout its history.
  • Promote practical and theoretical training for Catalan progressive forces.
  • Promote cultural and artistic activities and works committed to the defense of freedom, democracy, social justice and national sovereignty.
  • Promote local governance and engagement as a tool for a democratic political participation that could be closer to the citizens.
  • Encourage the promotion Catalan language.
  • Work on the preservation and defense of the historical memory of people linked or related to the Republican Left of Catalonia who were victims of the Spanish Civil War and general Franco’s repression, and promote justice for these people by any means legal means.
  • Promote initiatives that aim to foster social, economic, generational, territorial and environmental cohesion and solidarity.
