SERAC-Bangladesh is a non-profit, non-government, and non-political youth-focused development organization with special consultative status with the UN-ECOSOC. Founded in 1991 and formally registered in 1993, SERAC works to improve the lives of disadvantaged communities—particularly youth, women, and children—through rights-based, participatory development initiatives. It is legally registered under several government bodies, including the Ministry of Social Welfare, the Ministry of Youth & Sports, and the NGO Affairs Bureau, and operates under an approved constitution in collaboration with both government and non-government entities. SERAC’s mission is to create a rights-based environment that ensures access to education, health, livelihood, gender equality, and justice for vulnerable populations. Its vision is to build a just and inclusive society where disadvantaged communities can thrive through access to human rights, services, and opportunities. SERAC-Bangladesh promotes socio-economic development through awareness-raising, capacity-building, and need-based programs, and currently implements projects directly in 28 districts across all 8 divisions of Bangladesh, while also maintaining a youth network in all 64 districts through more than 200 academic institutions.
