Wednesday, October 8 | 5.30pm – 7.30pm | Hotel Silken – Salon Prado
Young people remain largely marginalised from decision-making and policy dialogues, including in relation to open government processes. While there might be significant political momentum and strong interest from young people in open government in certain countries, both sides often lack the capacity to meaningfully engage with each other. Public authorities struggle to generate adequate interest from young people in their own public dialogue mechanisms; while young people are often unable to get their message across to policymakers.
This session will focus on action-oriented reflections as to how to restore and continue fostering a meaningful dialogue between governments and young people, at a time of growing public distrust among the younger generation. Concrete outcomes and recommendations will be fed into the review of the OGP Youth Toolkit, first published in 2022. The YDC and Accountability Lab will facilitate this interactive workshop in collaboration with OGP, who will present broader ongoing efforts to advance youth participation in OGP processes.
Following the session, we invite all participants to join us for Youth Happy Hour hosted by the Youth Democracy Cohort at the Bar So Wood from 20:00 onwards.
